Yuchengco Museum

The Yuchengco Museum is a Makati art museum built around the collection of Ambassador Alfonso T. Yuchengco, and its website has to serve visitors, researchers, and shoppers at once. I redesigned it in WordPress with Elementor Pro: an exhibitions section with structured dates and locations, individual exhibition pages carrying credits and notes, a YSPACE section for the museum's events venue, a Visit area covering the calendar, visitor information, policies, and group visits, and a WooCommerce shop holding more than a thousand titles and gift items.

The Yuchengco Museum is a Makati art museum built around the collection of Ambassador Alfonso T. Yuchengco, and its website has to serve visitors, researchers, and shoppers at once. I redesigned it in WordPress with Elementor Pro: an exhibitions section with structured dates and locations, individual exhibition pages carrying credits and notes, a YSPACE section for the museum’s events venue, a Visit area covering the calendar, visitor information, policies, and group visits, and a WooCommerce shop holding more than a thousand titles and gift items.

Details

The Yuchengco Museum sits in RCBC Plaza on Ayala Avenue in Makati, and it does three jobs under one roof: it mounts exhibitions, it hires out an events venue, and it sells publications from its collection. The site had to carry all three without letting one bury the others, so I rebuilt it in WordPress with Elementor Pro around separate sections — YM for exhibitions and collections, YSPACE for the venue, YFILMS, and YSHOP for the store — with a shared Visit area whose tabs cover the calendar, visitor information, museum policies, and group visits. Exhibition pages carry structured What, When, and Where fields so that every show reads the same way, alongside an About the Exhibition narrative and previous and next navigation that keeps a visitor browsing rather than bouncing.

The YSHOP does the quietest and heaviest work. It is a WooCommerce catalogue of more than a thousand products — books, catalogues, gifts, hand-painted artworks, fashion, paper goods — sorted into categories such as Filipiniana, children’s books, and Philippine artists, with search, sorting, a wishlist, and pagination across more than a hundred pages. Product pages carry the detail a book buyer wants before committing: author, publisher, ISBN, page count, dimensions, language, and remaining stock, with related titles underneath. A catalogue that size is only useful if it can be searched, so the category structure and the search were built for browsing rather than for a single product.

Museums are asked to behave like three organizations at once — a cultural institution, an events business, and a retailer — while the people maintaining the site are usually a small communications team rather than developers. That is the real constraint: an exhibitions archive a curator can update, a venue page that can be pitched to corporate clients, and a shop that can carry a thousand titles without becoming unmanageable. I build WordPress and WooCommerce websites for museums, galleries, and cultural institutions that hold all three together. If your institution needs a website that does the same, contact me about your museum website.
